Friend/Enemy can only be described as a Perishable Records band - with core members Tim Kinsella, Todd Mattei, and Jim Becker - the experience is often jarring, and the rhythmic slips bleed punk into some sort of post-millennium jazz-funk thing. With Joan of Arc and Califone undertones experienced throughout and a long list of collaborating artists including Zac Hill's intense drumming. Other Chicago notables Sam Zurick, Caryn Culp, Graeme Gibson, and Azita Youssefi lend a hand. Friend/Enemy's only released album 10 Songs gained little prestige- and after one tour the band dissolved into other projects. A second album was being recorded - but abandoned before finishing.
