Make Believe

Going to the Bone Church LP/Digital Download

Flameshovel Records | Coraille Records April 15, 2008

Recorded and mixed by Greg Norman at Electrical Audio
mastered by Dan Stout.

Make Believe return with a record that is as musical as it is raw, and as dense as it is simple. The Chicago-based band delivers a delicious slice of their bizarre and truly one-of-a-kind world hot on the heels of 2006's Of Course. Front man Tim Kinsella, drummer/keyboardist/ cousin Nate Kinsella, gu-ita-ru Sam Zurick and bass-dude Bobby Burg assembled all their best chops and settled into Electrical Audio Studio with Greg Norman (Pelican, Magnolia Electric Company, Neurosis) for the second time to produce what is their most varied and realized release to date. Vocally, Kinsella is at his carnal best, slipping in and out of chants, growls, yelps bolstered by layers of backing vocals for the first time in the band's brief career. All the while the band beats along, riffing acute and obtuse rhombuses around him. Together they take the listener on a primitive and tribal trip and create something haunting, hypnotic, pulsing and, most importantly, original: Going to the Bone Church.
